CIKcap ®

Solar Battery Module

As interest in measures that prevent global warming grows, natural energies, including solar batteries, are garnering much attention worldwide. As a result, C. I. Kasei is ambitiously targeting new business segments, such as the manufacturing of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) sheets used in solar battery modules, that apply technologies it has amassed in agricultural films and waterproof geomembranes.

Our successful development of the CIKcap® EVA sheet represents a culmination of these efforts, as it greatly reduces the occurrence of defective modules. Currently, we are moving forward with a project to establish the groundwork for the mass production of these sheets overseas.

■Solar Battery Module Architecture and EVA Sheets

Solar battery modules consist of glass, EVA sheet, silicon PV cell and backsheet. At only 150 microns thick, the silicon PV cell is extremely thin and fragile, meaning the cell is susceptible to cracking or damage if the EVA sheet shrinks during hot press production at 150 °C. C. I. Kasei has developed a unique proprietary production method that integrates its EVA molding and compounding technologies to produce EVA sheets with long-term durability and minimal thermal shrinkage.

LED Lighting

Inquiry Products

C. I. Kasei, commanding its compounding technology for fluorescent film and electrode wiring technology, has developed a high-intensity LED package featuring even light quantity, broad color temperatures and high color rendering. We also develop and manufacture customized LED light xture solutions tailored to usage and location, which represents another aspect of our active approach to the commercialization of LED lighting solutions.

■LED Package Architecture

C. I. Kasei has developed a proprietary high-intensity surface mount device (SMD) LED package that features a blue LED chip with its compounded fluorescent film sheet, as well as its established ribbon electrode wiring technologies.
